Senesse is a busy city, and you're bound to run into people
other than those directly controlled by other players. While quite a few
of the characters listed on this page ARE created and often played by those
creators, you can be sure that even when they aren't being played, the
characters are still busy doing their jobs, and it is fair to assume that you
may have casual encounters with those characters.
For example, Unais, Arala and Pest are the three cooks at the
Red Dragon, and they will still cook your food for you even when their players
are absent or busy. You should -not- play out any scenes that would
require more than a basic knowledge of a character without consulting that
characters player.

Government
Naldesh, Governor of Senesse
Swarthy-skinned and tall, the current Governor of Senesse plays no
favorites. Even to citizens that have parlayed favors with previous
administrations or even Naldesh's superiors, much to the vexation of some of the
more lawful vigilantes of the area. His administration heralded in new
tight-fisted and no-nonsense reforms of government as well as an influx of
camel-riding, hooka-smoking, turban-topped, caftan-wearing immigrants. Senesse
just got a whole lot weirder.
Cabinet
Intisar Nagib,
Personal Secretary to the Governor
Incorruptible and conservatively dressed, this strikingly exotic woman fulfills
a very important task for her King and Country: Making sure that no one,
absolutely NO ONE, sees the Governor without an appointment scheduled in
triplicate, complete with receipt. Please take a seat. Thank you.
Khaled Berioui, Secretary of Taxation
and Finance
Tax time, traditionally, has been ignored by much of the populous of Senesse.
The more freewheeling residents seem to feel themselves above such rudimentary
tributes to government, preferring instead to give gifts whose financial value
cannot be exactly quantified-- such as keeping the Guard on it's toes. This will
no longer be the case. Taxes are due, and taxes will be paid. The pudgy and
generally pleasant demeanor of Khaled belies a frightening passion for
collecting what's due.
Yidir Matoub, Secretary of the Interior
Yidir's primary duty is monitoring and handling the finer aspects of city
maintenance, planning, and administration. Domestic licensing, business
oversight, and small-claims disputes all fall under his jurisdiction.
Muhend Saidi-Sief, Secretary of the
Exterior
Muhend is in charge of all aspects of governance that are associated with
outside commerce and law, be it communication with other provinces or other
kingdoms.
The Inn
Owners
Tobias Fel
The Fel name in Axtya is renown far and wide as a very powerful and wealthy
merchant family. Tobias is the sole heir to the family fortunes and business.
The slight young man made Senesse his home a short time after graduating from
his studies at University, where he was something of a prodigy in the realm of
illusion. He bought the Red Dragon as an investment, turning the business from a
hellhole dive to a respectable commercial venture.
Young Master Fel is no longer a frequent visitor to the area since his father's
health began to fail, despite his fondness for the area and how very much the
burdens of family and fortune annoy him.
Brammimonde Gurthinmoch-Fel
When you ask to see the management of the Red Dragon, this is likely who you'll
be confronted with. The gnome stands just over three feet tall and sports a headful of candy-apple red dreadlocks and a rather prim mode of businesswoman's
dress. She isn't one to take shit from people, though most of the town sees her
as a downright decent woman with a big heart and sympathy aplenty-- especially
for anyone who's down on their luck, or struggling members of the less
kindly-looked-upon races.
Ask around about her past and her habits and stories abound, each more
unbelievable than the next. Either this little entrepreneur is a public
relations spin doctor extraordinaire, or the once-Governor of Senesse is caught up
in things way over her head.
Staff, NPC
Gisela, Day shift Waitstaff
Gisela is exactly the opposite of the barmaid you've imagined. She is flat as a
board, shy, and keeps her mousy brown hair tucked into a loose bun at the back
of her head. Only about 17, she is dedicated to her work as simple as it may be,
and doesn't want to make any money on the side-- keep it in your pants, please.
She seems to live only to work and to care for her sick mother at home. In the
absence of other management, it is she that keeps the insanity of the Inn to a
dull roar.
As a waitress, she is efficient and quietly polite. Your food will arrive
promptly and she’ll check in on you often to make sure you’re taken care of.
Lorelei, Night shift Waitstaff
Buxom, blonde and flirtatious, Lorelei is everything that a barmaid should be.
It was really too bad then that she lost her job as a waitress at the old Inn
not so much for turning tricks on the side, but rather for drumming up business
for her night job during her day job. When she turned up pregnant, however,
big-hearted Brammimonde could not bear to let the unwed mother-to-be go without
a roof over her head and jobless, she was hired back as the night shift
waitress.
After a suspiciously long pregnancy, Lorelei gave birth to a bouncing baby boy,
who giggles and squirms on her hip as she attends to her waitressing duties.
Tactful patrons will avoid making crass comments about the sturdy little tyke's
silky blonde beard. The father is nowhere to be found, but Lorelei seems
perfectly content.
As a non-player character, she is saucy and just a little lazy. She'll come and
refill your coffee, but you'd better make sure she's looking right at you when
you holler for her.
Rosamund, Swing shift Waitstaff
Rounding out the small army of unlikely waitresses is Rosamund. She looks like
she was pretty when she was young, but hasn't quite succumbed to this 'aging
gracefully' nonsense. Her frizzy hair has been dyed a slightly toxic shade of
strawberry blonde and her eyeliner looks like it's ready to flake off like lead
paint. In surprising contrast, her dresses are always high-collared and stiffly
starched, coupled with grandmotherly shawls.
Any necking or swearing is met with a disapproving glare, but at least the
service is good.
Staff, PC
Arala
Arala hails from Cardo, at least, that was the last place she set up shop. She
left for Senesse under circumstances she would describe as ‘ just a bit strained.’
Rumor has it that her shop in Cardo is a charred black wreck. Arriving only a
day after the Red Dragon Inn was rebuilt, she was quickly accepted into the
position of the Red Dragon Inns cook.
Standing at a total of 3’4”, and proud of it, Arala wears her black hair tied
back and braided. An expert cook, she delights in preparing bizarre dishes to
suit her customers, and is always ready to try her hand at a new challenge. She
often dispenses little bits of her wit along with her dishes, be it an
interesting story or a practical joke.
Annoy her under threat of Soup-Nazi-style denial of service, which the ownership
fully supports.
Unais
A slight young man with limp black hair and crisp features but a otherworldly
moist feel about him, he is the Inn's Swing-Shift cook. He goes about his duties
quietly and diligently, and any inconsistencies in wetness (be they unwelcome
puddles or vases that have gone dry) are mysteriously resolved with barely a
fuss when he is around.
Pest
Just under four feet tall, old and woolly, stands Pest. Normally, Gully Dwarves
are indescribable aside from the incomparable filth that surrounds them in an
aura of stink and muck. Pest harks from the same culture and species as the
Aghar, but is remarkably clean. Cleaner than some humans, in fact.
His culinary skills are nearly unparalleled, cinching the Red Dragon's
reputation as Senesse's premier eatery. More than succulent and savory enough to
overlook his Aghar-Wizardry, which seems to rely on dead rats and dry bones for
power.
Loud noises and fights worry him, as he became accustomed to cruel treatment and
swift kicks during his long life; but abuse these days towards the Dwarf will be
dealt with just as if he was any other Senessian. That is to say, it really
isn't worth the wrath of both the Guard and the Government and any number of
vigilantes to beat up on the simple little fellow.
Townsfolk
While you're not likely to meet everyone listed in this section, sometimes it's
nice to run your character into an NPC who you didn't make up on the spot.
You're free to detail your own townspeople and submit them to this list.
Faure Canbeus
Senesse's current undertaker stepped into the family business after his Uncle,
Marcule, finally expired. And stopped working. In exactly that order. Nearly
everyone was fine with a ghost working as the city's mortician; he worked cheap
and never asked for a day off. Eventually, though, this perfect arrangement was
foiled by politics and Marcule's successor stepped forward; as pale, tall,
rail-thin and humorlessly demeanored as his departed predecessor. It's as if
nothing had ever changed.
Solin
Solin, a very
religious elderly halfling who lives on a small plot of land with her goats,
operating a small but impressive herbalist and goat-milk business out of her
tiny kitchen. Doing business with her demands a neighborly chat with her over a
cup of gut-wrenchingly strong coffee, sweetened with blackstrap molasses and
goat's cream. It's worth it.
Paesott the Fruitstand Goblin
Paesott the Fruitstand Goblin is a fine fellow. Even if he is, in fact, a
goblin. He well understands that he's not easy to look at, and he's a stranger
in a strange land, but he's always got the best produce in town and keeps
himself and his stall immaculately well-scrubbed. He can often be found in front
of his stall in the open market, cutting slices off of what ever has come in
this morning with a diminutive paring knife, trying to drum up business by
giving passersby a taste of his wares.
The Guardsmen
Like it or not, the city of Senesse is patrolled by a formidable
force of guards, with the means to render almost all would be criminals dead or
behind bars. Expect to meet up with them if you disobey the law in any
place where you might have witnesses.
